The Medal represents Pope John XXIII.

In Latin, Ioannes PP. XXIII was born Angel Joseph Roncalli; Under the Mountain, November 25 th 1881. Vatican City, June 3 rd 1963, he has been the 261º bishop of Rome and pope of the Catholic Church (the 260º successor of Peter), primate of Italy and 3º sovereign of the State of the Vatican City (close to the other connected titles to his role).

He was elected Pope in October 28th 1958 and in less than five years he started the renewed impulse evangelist of the Universal Church. He is remembered with the appellative of “good Pope”. It was tertiary Franciscan and he has been beatified by pope John Paul II September 3rd 2000; April 27th 2014 he has been canonized together with John Paul II.
