This medal depicts an engraving in relief of Our Lady during the apparitions of Fatima, crowned with a halo composed of 12 stars, surrounded by the four shepherds in prayer.
Among the Marian apparitions, those relating to Our Lady of Fatima are among the most famous. According to their story, three shepherd children, siblings Francisco and Jacinta Marto (9:07 years) and their cousin Lucia dos Santos (10 years), 13 May 1917, and were careful grazing in places Cova da Iria (Basin Iria), near the Portuguese town of Fatima reported seeing a cloud and down, as it dispersed, appears the figure of a woman dressed in white holding a rosary, which identified with the Virgin Mary. After this first appearance she would have made ??an appointment with children for the 13th of the following month, and so for 5 meetings from 13 May until 13 October.
